Domain Pointing from one godaddy account to another
If you have bought any domain with a godaddy account and have hosting server at another godaddy account then how to point the domain to the hosting server account?
Lets have a look by example:
Godaddy Account 1:
www.mydomain.com
Godaddy Account 2:
Linux Cpanel Hosting server
Now start with step by step:
Step 1: Get your account 2 information
- Server IP address ( Example: 22.33.44.55 )
- Server Default Domain's Nameservers ( Example: ns20.nameserver.com, ns21.nameserver.com )
Step 2: Go to account 1:
Open the manage domains/products
select your domain you want to point
Now click the DNS for the link to go to the DNS manage page for the domain
Here you will see there are IP address in the value section of the type A
What you have to do is to change that value with your account 2 IP Address which you have collected.
Save and verify that all A type have the same IP address which you have collected from the account 2.
Step 3. Verify NameServers:
Every hosting provider have different Nameservers, so you have to verify that the Nameservers are pointed to the godaddy itself or pointed to somewhere else.
If it is pointing to godady server itself, then its Ok, otherwise you have to change the nameservers with your default hosting nameservers.
If you have to change, then click the change button , a form will open to add the new namservers.
Enter your godaddy nameserver and save it.
Step 4: Add domain to your account 2
Login to you account 2 , where your files will be hosted.
Go to My Products
Click the Manage Web Hosting
Login to Cpanel Admin
Now on dashboard, click the add Domains
Add your domain , which you have to point to this hosting server.
Save and the go for file upload to the path pointed while adding the domain.
You can use, FTP or direct upload from website panel.
Step 5: Wait and Verify:
Wait to 10-15 , and then verify, your domain in the browser., your website will be live.
